Russia in color, a century ago
these incredible snaps were taken between 1909 and 1912. Photographer Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii used a specialized camera to capture three black and white images in fairly quick succession, using red, green and blue filters, allowing them to later be recombined and projected with filtered lanterns to show near true color images.
I find it's often difficult to imagine history in colour, even though colours have always been the same.

Ana Kras
spotted Ana Kras' neat designs in the latest issue of Frankie mag. The photos she takes of her products are wonderful! Just realised I'd already been admiring her photos on flickr also.

beautiful bicycles
some lovely snaps of ladies and their bicycles from 'The Bicyclette'. I first read about 'the bicyclette' on another fantastic bicycling lady's blog eva.lu (who is actually in the photo at the bottom). Wow that was a mouthful.
